The Socotra Dragon Blood Tree (Dracaena Cinnabari) is an endemic and endangered tree from Socotra island of Yemen. Not to be confused with the Dracaena Draco that grows in the Canaries Islands. 37% of the plants on Socotra are endemic. Thanks to this unique biodiversity, Socotra was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These trees can become thousands of years old and if the current, unsustainable livestock management will not change, the extinction of this species will happen in the near future. The seedlings of the Dragon blood trees have no chance to grow due to overgrazing which makes this generation the last.
