• Everytime I was in Iran, I wanted to visit this special place in Golestan. But it was just never on my route.
This time, I set my goal to get there.
The view from the top was absolutely spectacular and so worth the whole drive up there.
Khalid Nabi Cemetery is famous for its shrine and special tombstones resembling male and female genitals.
The cemetery is thousands of years old and dates back to pre-Islamic times.

  • The Socotra Dragon Blood Tree (Dracaena Cinnabari) is an endemic and endangered tree from Socotra island of Yemen. Not to be confused with the Dracaena Draco that grows in the Canaries Islands. 37% of the plants on Socotra are endemic. Thanks to this unique biodiversity, Socotra was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These trees can become thousands of years old and if the current, unsustainable livestock management will not change, the extinction of this species will happen in the near future. The seedlings of the Dragon blood trees have no chance to grow due to overgrazing which makes this generation the last.
