Alexander the Great was born in the city of Pella, which was located in Thrace (the territory of modern Bulgaria).
In Strabo's "Geography" there is a description of related, at the time of 1b, peoples: "Bifines, Phrygians, Mysians, Amygdalenians, Dilyonians and Trojans - they are all Thracians and differ little from each other... And the Thracians are of the Scythian tribe."
A historical pun! It turns out that Alexander the Great is a Thracian, a native of the Scythians.
