I have never experienced anything so beautiful in my life
I had the extreme pleasure of sharing this moment with my mum A first for both of us
I arrived home Friday evening very tired and very sore
Once it was confirmed that we could see them, you couldn’t stop me lol I was willing to pay the price and my heart was full of excitement I got ready, put my cellphone in my pocket Off we went to the front porch steps
It'd been a long day A week of emotions
Yet, in this moment, there was only silence Just a mother and daughter sharing a step, staring up at something so breathtakingly beautiful, together
We hugged We laughed We cried We soaked it all in
We only stayed out 5min or so, but I wouldn't change that 5min for anything♥️🫂
Life is about moments, and this moment is one of ours

Wildlife Wednesday 🐢💕
It's that time of year when you never know what you're going to see It's breeding season and the various species of turtles are on the move They become a common site in our area Conservation efforts around them are a big thing in Norfolk County!
Yesterday, this beauty of a female snapper was roaming the lawns around the neighbourhood; more than likely, she was looking for a safe place to drop her eggs
She took a break on our lawn before moving to the middle of the road You could tell she was tired and in no hurry to continue her journey back across the road Time was ticking by Instead of leaving things to chance, at risk of being hit by a car, the gents kindly transported her to a safer environment

1 You'll never know if you don't try!
2 Sometimes you gotta push a little, hurt a little, to reap the rewards
Yesterday, I ventured to the furthest part of our yard🌸
I wanted to see IF I could add flowers to the new bed, which the man started building for me on Tuesday A new home for my gifted hydrangea I really didn't think this through, though
A smart, knowingly gimpy gal would've had someone kindly move a chair way back there for resting and maybe even move the assortment of chosen flowers back there too I was not that smart gal LOL
The same gimpy, yet smart gal would've considered the depths at which she'd need to squat, to plant said flowers and the gusto required to stand back up I did neither of those LOL
The well trained, yet slowly recovering gal would've recalled what "range of motion" meant and what would be involved to complete this task I, the gal, feeling like she's got t-rex arms, who can't get them anywhere near the direction of up Me, the pure pro at getting herself trapped when changing into, or out of, a t-shirt alone did not recall one iota of that valuable information learned in years of educated experience LOL
Instead, I slowly worked away My hands full of dirt, and armed with a small garden trowel One by one, in the flowers went
In the end, Mum had to finish planting the last 4 in the front row, as I stood supporting myself; an arm half up, resting against that very post 100% out of breath
But, now I have this pretty and colourful bed to feel accomplished about🏆🥰
Fun fact: Hydrangea will change their colour depending on the Ph level of your soil🌸

I went to your house Friday, I won't lie, I was crying long before pulling in the driveway I haven't been there since our illnesses changed both our paths; I was thinking that it might make some of today easier In some ways, maybe it has
I sat there just waiting for you to open the door & part of me hoped you would Instead, my tear stained face climbed the stairs & entered my safe space without you
I wasn't sure if my legs would make it beyond the living room, but they did My heart & mind were driven to find you, the essence of you, those final memories with you Of you
I went into your dark office, the shade pulled down tight The last place we shared a loving & very heartfelt, meaningful conversation This time, I sat in your chair instead of mine for a while I closed my eyes & remembered every word, each piece of advice The massive hug & one of the final " know that I love you Sweetie "that I'd ever hear
I admired your brilliant handwriting among the bits of remaining papers on your desk Writing so very neat Writing I'd never have the pleasure of receiving anymore
I walked through your bedroom, then the kitchen
The emptiness of the home was starting to set in I began noticing the empty closets, the piles, the packed & empty boxes You really weren't here anymore yet my heart still searched I wanted to see you come through that front door or pop out around the corner Please just once more
Then I saw the coat
One of the only bits of clothing left in that big empty house was your garage coat The one you'd wear while puttering, while working on your cars, doing quick errands & out on cooler days while sipping coffee That dirty, worn plaid coat
My shaking hands held that coat & inhaled There it was Beyond the years of grease, grime, oil and cigarettes, was you The essence & warmth of you It was here I bawled
Know that I think you're so courageous and so strong Know that I am proud of you & your choices Know that I will love you today & every tomorrow Know that you are missed And know that as you've kept your promise to continue watching over me, I'll keep mine

Barnard 150 : The Seahorse Nebula
I have been fascinated with dark nebula since I was introduced to AP So, that's pretty much since I acquired my go-to My first was The Shark and then The Iris These targets take time, patience and a bit of know-how when it comes to editing them Something that even the most skilled had to take the time to learn They are challenging and vocabulary inducing A constant WIP for those still navigating the ropes Some flat out avoid them
The great thing about data, is that we can revisit with new gear, add more, or just apply new knowledge to an existing project, as our understanding grows I'm slowly working through the data hoard; this is the shortest project of the bunch I'm trying to get my "finished" projects stacked and ready for processing Why? I foresee a roadtrip, some relaxation, and a bit of 1:1 processing time If I'm lucky, some clear skies and a chance to image in a zone better than home
I've been touched by chats within this community; talks with various people at different stages and some with those I admire All loaded with positives and encouragement, for my dedication to integration and to the aquistion of quality data How even though I think I'm not progressing, I'm usually just not giving myself enough credit All genuine and highly likely to be true
Biggest thing to warm my heart is this:
I've inspired them in some way, on some level

The Power of Positivity & Progression
I have sat on this image waiting for the perfect moment Here we are
First, a massive thanks for the campaign you were all part of I’m in shock & speechless You truly are an amazing & thoughtful group
Like this galactic beauty, I have appeared to exist 2 5 million light years away To others, I have been close; full of depth & colour Much like this 2nd attempt ever on M31, who I was months/years ago isn't who I am today Like the images I capture it takes work, dedication, time & most of all--support All knowing some things aren’t in my control I fumble at times to get periods of clarity, positivity, the correct footing, the right approach, the right combo of processes, a way to move forward Many things I DO have control of Learning to take the best from each session, day, moment, each person & applying it to the next This can be difficult, frustrating It can hurt I needed to trust the process One of progression
Not all will be positive, supportive, agree with the methods used Here’s the lesson: negative people & things are like bad pixels…they gotta go With changes we're rewarded with progress Not just in our set of skills, environment, our lives & goals but in ourselves It’s here we begin to embrace strength, theirs & our own The self-love & self-acceptance; acknowledging the confidence & courage we were always struggling to see This is power
February 14th was review day Still not missing that drive I had no expectations of what review meant, besides a chance to ask for the future plan The path to the 24wk mark, vital knowledge: the full efficacy of it all, of what I’ve been through Thing with Cancer is these checks occur for a while after
However, I walked out of the clinic knowing that check 1 indicated ZERO SIGNS of the battle that raged within me Holy hell

As we grow, our skills grow
It's not often I'll reprocess something I'm more a once and done kinda gal, but not saving the original project file, nor the image besides what was on my phone (2nd pic) forced such a thing, as I prepared to send my 10 images in for starfest Good thing, as the 1st attempt would have left me with a "sub par base to build from" and an image submission I'd have known I could've done better on
I left revisiting it for the last An image is never just a mere collection of photons to me Each one carries weight and something unsaid, especially this one The memories and emotions that flood forward when I work with and/or share this data are indescribable With just days to the cut-off, it was time to dig deep and see what I could do with it
I have learned a lot since that initial edit in November It was muddy It was rushed Yet it also had a purpose as the road afterward was set to match it Did match it Now, some of the raw and dark experiences once tied to it are replaced with a little bit of brightness, and some goodness Some soul-filling pride
Hope
Passionately satisfied with my final version of this heartfelt 60 05hr project It's the longest chase and deepest story I've ever told
It's emotional and it's mine
It's not about forgetting where you've come from, but remembering how far you've come since then
Thanks for always standing by me, even when I feel like I can't stand up myself 💙
