  • This was my second year speaking at #KPMGGlobalServices’ Wellbeing Week and I can honestly say, the exchange of ideas, the questions and above all the enthusiasm and attention at the session in the #Gurugram office was overwhelming I didn’t want to leave! It’s essential to acknowledge the multiple dimensions that comprise Wellbeing and reflect and honour all aspects of our human experience, particularly in today’s post human paced world Thank you @kpmgin for inviting me to share my personal stories and celebrate our individual journeys!
Special thanks to @rupeshtripathi for not only reading my book in full but bringing that special spark and curiosity to our session
You can’t optimise until you recognise…your essence and truest nature
And don’t forget to laugh! The older I get, the less seriously I take myself So liberating!

The second day of #KPMGGlobalServices’ Wellbeing Week focused on #mental / #emotionalwellbeing This was wonderfully brought to life during a live session with actor @lisaraniray! #KGS colleagues gathered to listen to her experiences as a working mother and battling cancer Lisa spoke candidly and engagingly about important, but often overlooked topics such as the disconnect between our inner and outer voices and the multiple dimensions in one human being, inspiring colleagues to introspect and understand themselves more deeply

  • I am currently caught up in the philosophical and practical debate of how to curb excessive use of digital tools in my children’s classrooms They are only 5 - soon to be 6 - and while we diligently limit screen exposure at home, they have iPads and screen time and gamified learning content at school
I have a fully developed prefrontal cortex and at times I can’t control the rabbit hole effect of scrolling on social media Tech titans who helped develop the digital tools we use often admit to strictly controlling their own children’s use or even send them to low tech schools Why? Because they know how children can’t withstand the addictive, dopamine driven nature of apps
For parents, it’s the debate of our times For Secondary school parents, the struggle with Smartphone addiction, cyber bullying, body dysmorphia and mental illness as a result of online exposure and social media is real
As parents, we need boundaries and new strategies Take a look at movements like @smartphonefreechildhood which supports parents withstanding the overwhelming infiltration of tech in our personal lives as well as in classrooms
I would love to hear what you think? Personally, I will give my girls a Nokia phone for safety and communication at the right age and I am lobbying for less use of digital tools and more physical worksheets in Primary School
Our children need us to protect them from what they are emotionally unprepared for, preserve their childhood and make the ‘unpopular’ decisions
I’d love to hear what you think below?

  • Channeling the spirit of the women of #Heeramandi
    Introducing, um, Lillo jaan
I was entirely entranced by the @heeramandinetflix experience, the lavish costumes, the heightened romance, the sets and Tameez juxtaposed with exquisite cruelty
But let’s face it, it’s the women that fired up the screen Standouts of course @m_koirala (such a pleasure to see Manisha flexing her talent in a role worthwhile of her) @aditiraohydari @aslisona @iamsanjeeda (revelation) and of course @therichachadha swayed and danced her way into everyone’s heart
So, here’s my character contribution to that languorous, glamorous, dangerous world of #Heermandi

  • Let me tell you something I wish more people understood about cancer (Or hard times)
My center of gravity shifted after getting diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2009
A diagnosis is as individual an event as is any human reaction to a life altering experience The gravitational pull will not always be in the direction of healing It’s not that simple
But what I can say today, 13 years later, is a fully realized life is not only possible but perhaps for some - like me- the net result of passing through an experience that makes you face your mortality That cuts very close to the bone
    Yes
I am where I am because of it I would never wish cancer or any serious illness on anyone (thoo thoo) but while we’re here together let me tell you : life is glorious in all it’s shades
I love this image taken shortly after my stem cell transplant, at a dear friend’s home in Goa, on the eve of celebrating my rebirth
I am shaken but oddly calm Not yet wiser but stepping in the direction of grasping something I’d been searching for my whole life And I’m melting, I can see a few layers sliding off me like a minor landslide
I’ll never forget this moment, the circle of friends who surrounded me and the inevitability of finding peace in unpredictably
The most real I’ve ever felt in a photo before or since A way to immortalize a threshold
    Thank you @anaitashroffadajania @farrokhchothia @vogueindia
I see you in ways you might not even see yourself ❤️
