Night Falls- when set off for Patagonia I had a couple images in mind I knew I wanted to shoot these falls and hoped to get them with the Milky Way setting over Fitzroy I went to this spot two days in a row for blue hour and the peaks were shrouded in clouds both days Although I was sad I knew I had the images to still create something jaw dropping
To create my vision I blended 16 photos from 3 focal lengths- 16mm falls panorama shot, 24mm focal length blend mountain and 14mm Milky Way panorama This was probably the single hardest edit I’ve ever done and took near 8 hours to complete So yes this is a 100% composite but I couldn’t be prouder with how it turned out Let me know what you think

Galactic Glow- I’m guessing folks are getting tired of Patagonia content so this is the last one I’ll drop for a while and revert back to some good old Colorado wildflower content! Anyone who knows me knows how much I love some dead wood as a foreground- the textures are too good pass up Imagine my delight when I found the dead branches interlaced with fall foliage!!

This was taken on my last morning in Patagonia We were lucky enough to be graced with clear skies for astrophotography until right before dawn the clouds rolled In addition to the clouds we were graced with once in a lifetime calm conditions @exposureswithevan @david_erichsen_photo and I will remember this epic day for a very very long time

Ends of the Earth- just got back from a jaw dropping week in #patagonia with good friends @exposureswithevan and @david_erichsen_photo - we hiked nearly 90 miles, saw every season, experienced the most incredible peaks and star gazed under some of the darkest skies on the planet
This first edit sums it all up in one image taken at the base of #mountfitzroy with fall foliage, the bluest of lakes and the southern Milky Way! This is one of my first images taken with the @benrousa Polaris tracker and I couldn’t be more impressed with how it performed A huge shout out to @benrousa for the collaboration and to Dan Zafra @capturetheatlas who put together an incredible Polaris tutorial series that set me up for success!

Fitzroy Bokehquet- when I started planning my Patagonia trip I knew I had to get to this spot with the goal of getting a framed shot of Fitzroy Little did I know how hard it would prove to be After camping under the stars we started hiking well before dawn
The trail at first was easy to follow but it got exceedingly more difficult traversing over a huge boulder field After a failed shortcut that crossed a river (with 2 of us falling in), a scramble up and down a cliff, some dry heaving from over exertion (not me) and a fall that could have smashed both body and camera (me) We arrived to the most breathtaking view I have ever witnessed Although none of found the exact comp we were looking for it didn’t really matter By the time I found this comp I was mentally and physically exhausted As a result I failed to nail my focus stack but as I edited the bokeh in the foreground grew on me immensely Tell me what you all think?

Patagonia Dreams- for as long as I can remember I’ve dreamed of going to Patagonia I was drawn by the iconic peaks and darkest skies in the world But in many ways I driven by the singularity of creating one image My dream was to capture the arching MW over Mount Fitzroy with a full reflection I knew this was possible in the fall based on planning and scouting of reflecting pools at the base of Fitzroy but I also knew the impossibility of the task
Patagonia in fall is notorious for bad weather, low clouds and windy conditions In many ways this image is a story that represents the sheer will that underlies a photographers drive to create something truly unique and transformative
I was graced with clear skies and calm winds but this image would not have been possible without years of practice, an amazing community and family that support me, being willing to push my body to extreme limits, a creative vision and a star tracker like none other
A huge thanks to @benrousa for the collaborative opportunity to truly push the Polaris star tracker to its limits to create this image!
